Stop working for them but invite them to your barbeques?? =P
I dunno. I get pissed at management, and want to call in and stuff at times, but then I feel sorry for my coworkers, who I like and I know will get screwed if I ditch them. Not the same situation but a conflict of interests none-the-less.
Can you cut it back so you don't have so many clients? Then maybe the calls will be rarer, and won't seem so monotonous for you?

My original plan was to give progressively, gradually crappier service so that they eventually learn to call me only when they really need me. I eventually decided that this is mean and cowardly....but it seemed so easy!
I really should start cutting back though, you're right...I took on all this independent work when my normal job had gotten somewhat routine and even a little tiny bit dull, but I didn't think ahead and plan for what I'd do if that changed. Part of the learing process, I suppose...they only way to get out something good of situations like this where there's no easy answer, I think, is to learn enough to avoid getting into them next time around :p
