Loosing focus...

I’m not sure how much more of this I can take. I can’t seem to properly focus on anything at all for the past few years. It seems to be accelerating with every day. Now I am at the point where I cannot focus on anything I used to enjoy. It doesn’t seem like it is a change of tastes, it is more like I cannot focus or concentrate on anything I enjoy ( Read more... )

how/when did this start? did it happen suddenly following a trauma, surgery, virus, depressive episode etc or come on slowly?
do you ever have sleeping problems?
do you often feel depressed or is it only when you can't seem to do the things you used to like doing?
otherwise is your mood okay?
and one other thing: when you do do something fun, do you enjoy it and feel good afterwards, do you not enjoy it and feel tired afterwards, or do you enjoy it but tire quickly and feel lethargic for a long period afterwards?
they may seem like weird questions but they are important..

No they are not weird questions at all. This has slowly been escalating since I was a child. I remember being 10-11 and feeling this way once maybe every month. I'm 24 now and it's been like this almost every day now.
I've had lots of sleeping problems, but those are now remedied with me being on olanzapine/zyprexa.
I feel depressed for no reason at all a lot of times. I do get even more depressed now when I can't do the things I used to be able to do, but more so I feel frustrated. otherwise I am actually a happy person when I am not depressed or frustrated.
When I do something fun (and actually can go through with doing it and accomplishing it) I end up feeling happy for maybe a few minutes to an hour, but I come crashing down from the high very quickly and feel tired, dizzy, and like I am trapped in thick dark honey.

ah ok, sounds like atypical depression maybe.. thats good because at least its treatable.
I've got myalgic encephalomyelits, which has similar symptoms of fatigue and sleep probelms etc, only its neurological and not treatable. occurs after a bad virus.
was worried you might have a milder case of ME, but thankfully sounds like you probably do not :)
