Stephenson's goes on the list. Let me know next time you're over this way and we'll do the Barbecue thing. It's good to know that there's someone else who understands what this fetish is all about. :)

Interesting to hear, and now I'm wishing I'd taken the time to try Allen & Son before leaving NC back to Atlanta.

Of course, I grew up in Winston-Salem and swear by Lexington Style BBQ (notably Little Richards in Winston-Salem).

At least I finally found a place down here with pulled pork that's to die for and an acceptable vinegar based sauce.

I didn't think it was possible for there to be better BBQ than Allen & Son. Seriously. I still go there any time I'm in the area, and when I was out that way for class a year and a half ago, I went a couple of times.

*sigh* Now I'm craving it. ARGH.

Trust me. I was as surprised as you. I had thought that Allen & Son was the summa cum laude as well. It's nice to know that I'm adaptable enough to recognize better when I taste it. If and when you come out again, we'll go to The Pit or have a tasting.
