Help! Seamstresses!!!

My cousin is getting married in June. She got a good deal on a strapless dress but wants a lace shrug or bolero to go over it. Mom is offering to make it but is nervous about sewing lace and matching the lace to the lace on her dress. I need resources ( Read more... )

I'd say Lacis for both advice and fabric.
But if most of your family is in the Sacramento area, that may out of the way.

....I've never done wedding shopping. It shows, doesn't it?

Bolero? I'm thinking Gothic Lolita websites (livejournal or cosplay.com) might have something to base off of. I can check my Gothic and Lolita Bibles though that might be too complicated for that.

Laci's would be your best bet for lace and advice on how to get it on though I heard they are also somewhat expensive. But. It's a lace museum.

There are two stores in Sacramento I go for fabric: High Fashion Fabric and right down the street from it is "World Fashion". I think that is the name. It's right next to the car parts store and is awesome for cheap good fabric.

I will dwell on this topic and get back to you with more ideas.

If you want it structured, the best I can say is to interline it with stiff silk organza. (Poly organza, not so good, but also workable.)
