Gee whiz Bi told me a knee slapper last night.

Dad had picked him up to go with him to get Uncle and Auntie from SFO. (Note to self: Get proper reference or name for Uncle) What Bi wasn't expecting was Dad bringing along his new girlfriend. Yes! I can see why you'd say that. Also, some people are "nesters", so the aspect of "being alone" would be depressing.
I doubt anyone could avoid being lonely, that's why it would be in our own best interest to be able to have a good enough time in one's own company.
Don't be sad! I would say it was all worth it, wouldn't you?

I think everyone is afraid of being alone. The older you are the more desperate and afraid.

Desperate? Afraid! Those are pretty strong feelings.
But it doesn't have to be such a bummer I think. It shouldn't be so terrible. I should like to think that it's not too bad, if at all. Maybe what we want is for someone to notice and acknowledge one's existence, and for it to matter when one no longer exists. Having a significant other then guarantees that one gets a "bless you" when one sneezes, yeah?
As long as I'm discovered soon enough after my exit so that I'm still presentable before cremation....
There's a difference between being lonely and alone.
