The unthinkable has happened! Tonight I instinctively pulled out a ball of yarn and my favourite pair of bamboo needles only to realize that I have run out of things to knit. I looked around, stunned, and then announced with great dismay, "I have run out of things to knit!". It won't be long before I'm one of those grandmotherly types with her ( Read more... )

Do you have the skill to make socks? I could use a pair of good warm wool socks, they would be greatly appreciated and used on a regular basis.

Unfortunately socks are not within my reach just yet. Apparently they take almost as long as a sweater to make because the stitches are so teensy tiny :(

I KNOW :(

What kind do you want? Like, a fuzzy cute one with ears or a toque or something else? And what colour?

i have no idea what a toque is. i was thinking like a ski cap or something, pink?

When you say ski cap I think of balaclavas? Oh, Canadian and American differences!

I don't know what you'd call a toque. I think it's a "beanie" to you? It's just a really simple hat that fits snugly. Comme ca!

Ok, how about if I send you a pair of mittens along with your (still unsent because I am a bad friend :( ) mixtape. I will put a picture or words or something on it and it will probably be related to britpop somehow. In any event, they promise to be amazing!

I would love for you to knit me something! I've always wanted you to, but was too afraid to ask.

Mittens with punctuation? A scarf that says things like “KABLAMO”? A mitten/scarf combo? In exchange I can knit you an irregular shaped tea-cosy, which you will have to cast off yourself, (sadly, I stagnated in the 'Learn to Knit' department).

I could definitely make you a scarf that says "KABLAMO!". I've never made a scarf with writing, so something like that would be fun to try. What would you like it to say, and what colour should it be?

Speaking of writing on scarves, this is highly illustrative of how nerdy I am, but my secret desire is to make a scarf with... I forget what they're called. The factor sequence things like 12 {1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12}. I also really want to make one that lists 32 decimal places of pi because I don't know any more after 32. Or maybe the quadratic formula!

Sadly I don't know anyone who is enough of a math nerd to actually wear any of these garments. I really need to start befriending engineers or something!

WHAT! I love Pi! Once I wanted memorize pi and everyone was like -- "Wow, you're dumb".

I would love a Pi scarf! That'd be amazing!

But where you stopped when people said, "you're dumb!", I kept on going. I got 3.14159265358979323846264338327950 with ease. I tried to perservere and move on to 50 or even 100 places, but everything after 32 became a blur.

I will make you this scarf with all the joy in my heart! What colours would you like?

Actually, Andy wants a pair of those ampersand mittens for himself! I can ask him about the colour later today (he's sleeping right now).

I would be delighted to craft a pair for him. I've yet to make boy mittens! It will be exciting for me to make ones that are slightly larger!

Report back to me with the colour choice, SVP!

xo!
