The unthinkable has happened! Tonight I instinctively pulled out a ball of yarn and my favourite pair of bamboo needles only to realize that I have run out of things to knit. I looked around, stunned, and then announced with great dismay, "I have run out of things to knit!". It won't be long before I'm one of those grandmotherly types with her ( Read more... )

I would gladly knit you something, but I need ideas! Colour choice and garment type, at least!

I've never tried, and don't have a pattern, but it shouldn't be too hard to find one / make one up, and I'd like to try!

Scarves are an excellent starting point for knitting. After you make a couple (your first few will likely have their share of holes and mistakes), hats are actually a pretty easy second kind of project!

That is the most terrifying thing ever! Although I have to admit, there's a part of me that thinks it would be hilarious to knit hats of all my favourite political figures and friends.

I've never made arm warmers, but that sounds like a fun and quick little project!

I totally owe you mail, and will happily send you a nice little package with "!" mittens!

xo!

if you knit me mittens, I will make you artwork. ..or something? ..is there something you'd want more? cold, hard, cash?

I'd reeeeeeally like black & white striped mittens, with a string that attaches them to go through my coat (you know, little kid style?), but I'd settle for anything really. the string would be the best part. I can't find those anywhere.

No, no! No cash! I like giving things away and I equally like receiving handmade things, so artwork would be lovely.

Black and white striped mittens are totally doable! I almost always put strings on mittens I give to people because I am personally very bad at keeping track of them when they're off of strings!

Amazing! Mittens are the most fun thing to make. Suggestions for the design beyond simply being mittens? Colour? Picture / words on it?

I've never tried, but I'm fairly confident that I could make a ninja turtle head!

If you knit me mittens with cables on them, I will bead you something amazing.

Or you could knit me a womb. Heehee...

Are socks seriously as much work as a sweater? I never realised that. Somehow, the thought of knitting just about anything just became much, much less daunting. I'm turning a heel as we speak.

I totally just posted on our stitch & bitch community about that womb! Ahhhh! I am definitely going to make one, but for you, I will make cable mittens. Colour preferences?

I'm not sure about the difficulty of making socks becuase I haven't tried yet. DPNs intimidate me too much :(

When I saw that womb, I immediately e-mailed my bestest friend the URL with the subject line "THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD TAKE UP KNITTING."

As for the colour... these are the colours I wear the most: PINK! BROWN! BEIGE! BLUE! I also have a favourite sweater that is black with white stripes down the sleeves. I will let you decide the colour.

DPNs aren't scary at all.

As for beaded somethings, what would you like? A bracelet? Some sort of cuff thing? A necklace? A womb (perhaps as a brooch)? A flower? A flower on a necklace? A lobster? A lobster trap? A light house? I can make just about anything.

You have picked colour choices that are very conducive to my current yarn selection which is lucky for you in terms of turnaround time!

Hmmm. Beaded things. Tempting and amazing as a beaded lobster sounds, I think I'll go for jewelery. I wear brooches a lot. I have a lot of them, but I could always use another. Or, I also really like having things around my neck, so a necklace would be lovely.
