I have been having a lot of random adventures lately (what, with 2am weeknight Elgin Street Diner outings, impromptu sleepovers, and skating on the Canal FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!). All I planned to do tonight was catch up on laundry and get groceries. Instead, there were some ridiculous and random and totally unplanned adventures. Today was all ( Read more... )

Listen, Pierre. PAMTHROWDOWN2005 would be so rare / amazing that people would pay to see it. It would totally be an event.

You've just won the "Sarah tried to watch the convention speech and couldn't last three minutes once he started talking about 'NDP anti-Americanism' and 'Liberal unity' (?)" Award for Awesomeness!

I have NO idea whatsoever. (My evening consisted of checking the CBC every five minutes to see if anything else would be on!)

BUT WAIT!

Then I found this! "In 2003 Macleans Magazine also named him one of Canada's most "Sexiest Men" because of "his made-for-TV looks and effortless eloquence."

AND THIS!

"In January 2005, influential journalist and historian Peter C. Newman suggested that Ignatieff could be an ideal leadership candidate for the governing Liberal Party of Canada after Paul Martin retires as leader sometime in the future."

Ahhhhhh!

I've always thought that he oozes Liberal leadership potential, which is to say that mostly he's boring, evasive, irritating, without principle, and somehow able to convince people I Know Best, even though he rarely (never) does.

And I mean, the Harvard thing can't hurt.

That Macleans thing though? Ugh, gross. I mean, even I admit that he's aged remarkably well, but I think a necessary part of being "sexy" is to not have a totally repulsive personality, and on that front, the Ignatieff report card gets a big fat "F".

But I don't want to bring them down! I obviously disagree with them, but I don't see the harm in letting them do their own thing, I guess. I actually felt kind of remorseful about being a party crasher (pun intended). I'd usually be content to leave them alone and roll my eyes from afar. BUT. I have had this irrational Ignatieff hatred for so many years and when I heard this morning that he would be speaking, I knew I couldn't not go.

Also, I had dindin with your lovely sister today!

You mean rational Ignatieff hatred, right?

Well, I guess disagreeing with him is pretty rational, but I know it's kind of silly how much I let him annoy me compared to like, any other of the eight zillion irritating theorists.

I know! The party sneaking in-ery started at 7:30. I was still AT the show though. I wanted to say goodbye to you but you were nowhere to be found aka in Rogers video or something :(

Also! This comment came at serendipitous timing as I was looking at the ANTM cycle 4 website! Now you can know all about it. Isn't Naima totally adorable?

hahaha I'LL SAY!

man, all the girls are pretty cute.

brandy has some asinine looking hair though. but very pretty indeed.
kahlen looks booooring. she is like whats her face from last season who just didnt have anything good to look at.
britney is TOTALLY cute. i love those earings!
christina= yawn. she will be one of the first to go, no doubt. nice shirt though.
lluvy....dont know how i feel about her. hmmm...weird face...
michelle is scary looking!!!

and the rest i see nothing wrong with.
hahah how's that for a review???

i hope these girls are better than the ones on last season. they were pretty mundane girls, if i do say so myself.

ALL THE GIRLS ARE NOT CUTE! MICHELLE IS DISGUSTING! On the show she didn't even brush her hair and looked supergross.

A+ on your review!

I agree that Brandy is pretty but the hair is just a bit (ok a lot) much.
You will probably hate Britney once you see her in action. She has a really grating personality.
Lluvy reminds me of some kind of animal but I can't figure out what it is.
If Kahlen and Rebecca could have babies, I think they would look just like Reese Witherspoon, who I actually think is cute. But they're both boring.

However, I think Brita is beaaaaaautiful (mostly just becuase she's exactly the kind of girl I would have wanted to look like "when I'm grown up" when I was five years old) but oh, how I want to put Naima in my pocket foreverandever, silly hair and all.

well despite sticking out like a sore thumb (and i missed this somehow) how did you like the show?

ageofscience March 3 2005, 21:48:33 UTC
Um, weird I guess! I left before Bane even started, but it's been yearsssss since I've even been to a show with "that kind" of bands / crowd. I mean, obviously it's not really my "thing", but when has that ever stopped me from enjoying anything before? Never!

I mostly kind of felt like I was 15 again (aka someone's girlfriend that had been unwillingly dragged along). And in keeping with the being dragged to shows at 15 spirit, I just sat on the sidelines and caught up with girl friends I hadn't seen in forever and was chatty.

I looked out for you so you could have a good laugh at the fact that I actually DID end up going, but alas! Anyway, did you have a good time?

Haha that's cute.

I had an excellent time. Comeback Kid and Bane are two of my favourite hardcore bands and seeing them together just made my week.

Yeah, see, when I was 14/15 for some inexplicable reason almost all my friends were 20 year old hardcore boys. I've definitely paid my "toughing it out through shows I don't care about" dues, but this definitely wasn't so bad. And the fact that (like you!) everyone else there was so excited about seeing them rubbed off on me, kind of, I guess.

But I wanted so badly to at least go home and change into jeans but no one would let me. They were like, "no, you wearing this outfit here is amazing!". Secretly I think they were just laughing at my expense :( Boohoohoo.
