OMGosh, is there anything I can do to help? I can't send you money, but can I send a box of clothes or anything? I mean I have a huge box of shoes I haven't unpacked, and also two boxes of clothes I haven't unpacked. Of course I gave away a ton of stuff before I left, so what's left is good stuff (jeans, teeshirts, stuff like that. No kids clothes of course) I was also thining about books. I could send some books too.

But then, I don't want you to end up feeling like a distribution center. :) But thank you so much for helping. Is that weird to you that I am thanking you? Sometimes people thank me for things and it feels weird (like visiting my grandfather in the hospital when they aren't there to visit) but now I understand (now that I'm not there) Anyway, it's so awesome to be able to help in these situations. :)

Books would be great because I'm sure these people need to find ways to pass the time. I don't think they have access to TV in any of the shelters, but I may be wrong.

I Don't have your email address anymore, but you can email me annie_girl@livejournal.com and send me your mailing address. (or your works one since they don't leave you packages!! *annoying*) I'll box them up and send them over tomorrow.

Kelly, I have a bunch of clothes that James has outgrown, like onesies and other outfits. Should I send them to you? I also have receiving blankets out the wazoo- could you use any of those? I also have books and CDs.

I so badly want to help monetarily, but money is so tight for us now. So if I can send any clothing or things like that, I'd love to do it.

Oh my god! That would be sooo awesome. I think the baby clothes and blankets would be much more valuable than money. Do you still have my work address? That's the best place because our mail man doesn't leave things at our door for some strange reason. It really ticks me off because I can't get to the post office unless I go in to work late.

Our mailman only leaves packages if we answer the buzzer.

I'll pack up those clothes and other things tomorrow. I still have your address. Thank you for taking it!

Meant to add that the books would be great, too. These people need some way to entertain themselves.

I'm trying to volunteer at a Church shelter in the Woodlands.

The Reliant Arena housing must be very, very temporary, right? Because I'm guessing the Texans are not planning on postponing games to be held there. I am wondering what will happen to these people when they get the boot in a few days? :(

It's amazing how spread out people are. I'm sure that those who were able to flee and get hotel rooms the first few nights are running out of money and are now going to the shelters.

No one is being housed at Reliant Stadium, just the Astrodome, the arena and the center. They had a U of H game at Reliant Stadium last night and the Texas Southern/Prairie View A&M game is tomorrow. There will be no interruption of the Texans games either.

I think that they are prepared for these people to stay as long as 30 days if not longer.

Why did my last post come up as anonymous? Huh. Strange....

That is weird why your post was anon.

OK, I thought there were people at the stadium as well. That answers that.

Hey Kelly.

First of all - Hello to Sarah! Great that she could stop by :)
Please email me your work address. I would love to go on a 'back to school' shopping trip this weekend and buy backpacks, school supplies, etc. and send them to you. Do you think that would help?

Anywho- whatever you think is your greatest need, Mike and I can provide. Here is my email address: nayla22@verizon.net

Hugs and Love to you for the awesome work you and Jason are doing there!
