It is a hypothetical question...and I'm not sure if I think pain 'sucks,' but I do agree with you in the sense that to live you need a little of both, (if that is even what you were saying...). It would take an incredibly strong person to feel 24/7...or maybe I'm just weak.
you clearly know nothing about the question asked, or life in general. Life past age six is feeling the pain that comes at you or escaping it, numbing it or running away. ("life IS pain highness, anyone who says different is selling soemthing.") elizabeth is the LEAST complaining person i know for the amounts of pain that she truly lets herself feel. How dare you judge her question that was clearly much deeper than you yourself can dive.
there is pain and pleasure both while living in this world. but do you notice what pain and pleasure have in common? they are both involved with only self-interest. my pain; my pleasure.
living through the pain to "know the pleasure when it comes" is loveless.
yes, there is a place where there is no pain, and you are not numb.
some people take the point of saying that people are naturally selfish. this is true. but, people cannot be selfless because they will not.
as for things never ending; yes, you are correct there are two things: living forever, or dying forever.
not all pleasure and pain is loveless, and I understand that. there are things that we should be in pain over; death, disobedience, lovelessness of others. and ther are certainly great things that happen as well. things that are not just self-pleasing.
I didn't mean it to be such a wide generalization.

and if those are your only two choices,

when humans chose to drown in lovelessness.
it wasn't meant to be this way.
pain is what happened
when this world died for the first time.
it wasn't meant to end this way.

I don't think anything ever ends.
