A few weeks ago I ended up stopping at a red light with this huge truck in front of me. With nothing else to do until the light turned green, I checked out my surrounds and spied the small print on the lower right of this truck.
No, you wouldn't get a free beer ... there are some areas where highways are one-lane and occasionally have 'pull-off' areas for trucks -- I've seen that around Seattle. A truck that's going up a long, steep grade is going to be a lot slower than 4-wheel traffic, and when they acquire a string of cars, a sensible trucker will pull over and let the car past.
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question,Lee! I never knew that! Then again...we have mostly 2 lane highways and passing zones so I never had an occasion to experience the phenomenon. It makes a world of sense though and I'm glad they give drivers that kind of option.
I wish they'd do that for all drivers that like to drive twenty miles an hour under the speed limit in no passing zones....would save a lot of hair pulling and cussing. LOL
And, I'm OK about the no beer...I have yet to acquire a taste for it....except in baking breads and batters for chicken. :-)

You too. I didn't know what that meant, either, until I visited my brother in Seattle. The roads in the mountains are scary enough without being stuck behind a semi.
I never liked beer until I visited England a few years ago... a world of difference between American big-brand cans and small-batch ale. Research--it can be fun!
