EEE! An update! And you're still keeping us in suspense over Rose and Jack meeting! Still loving it, as I do most everything you write.

Oh, thank you so much. :) Yes, I'm keeping you in suspense; as one of my betas noted last night, it's Doctor Who, which means there has to be a lot of running around before everything's wrapped up. *grin* I promise a happy ending, but as I mentioned to someone else above, I'm not promising when we'll get there. ;)

Thanks for reading!

I love how you changed his name to "Jack" in the narrative midway through. It shows the fundamental shift in his psyche that's happened here.

Yes--he's been slipping farther and farther away from 'Jones' for the last few chapters. Finding Rose--or almost finding Rose--has tipped him finally over the edge. He's not healed, not quite, but he's much, much closer than he was.

Thanks for reading! :)

Whoa - I hope whoever grabbed Zoe isn't too fond of their balls, 'cause she's going to rip 'em off and stuff them down their throats. Glad to see that Jack and Mal have reached an understanding - they're almost too much alike to get along well.
Next part, please!

Hee! I chose Zoë for a few specific reasons, not least of which was the shock value of having it it be her, of all people, who got kidnapped. There's more to it, of course, but that's part of it. :)

I agree re: Mal and Jack--I've always thought of them as being very similar, which means that neither would trust the other at first, simply because they do recognize themselves in each other. I think that's also why Andrea trusted Jack so quickly: he reminds her of Mal, whom she's known since she was little.

Next part will be in the works as soon as I finish responding to comments. :) Thanks for reading!

Eee! Yay, I love this story so much. I keep saying it, but it's still true. Jack and Mal make a formidable team, I'm sure.

Jack and Mal are definitely Big Damn Heroes all on their own; together, they're outright intimidating. Add in Jayne, and they're terrifying. Combine that with Zoë, River, and Rose, and I'm not sure the 'verse will ever be the same. *g*

Not saying all of them will be together at any point, of course. Not saying they won't, either.... ;)

Thanks for reading! (And I love your icon. That's one of my favorite scenes!)

I am seriously loving this story, and I rarely read WIPs. You've got a real talent for characterization. I've never seen Firefly, but I'm still getting a feel for them all, with no confusion at all as to who's who. The section with River was amazing. And I agree with Joking, about the name change. The shift in personality from Jones was palpable, with Jack ready to go back to being Jack again, to being involved with people, and taking risks again.

Here's hoping you make the next Wednesday deadline *grin*. Like everyone else, I suppose, I really, really want to see the meeting btwn Jack and Rose. (Hm... have to go run off now and make a Rose/Jack icon...)

Oh, wow, thank you! What a lovely compliment. Joss's characters are very cleanly drawn, of course, and the actors who portray them have a deep understanding of who their characters are, but that doesn't necessarily mean a fanfic writer can *capture* them correctly. I was hoping I could do so, at least well enough for someone who knows the show to recognize them. For you to feel that comfortable with them when you *don't* know the show is... wow, I don't have the words. *blush* Thank you so much.

I'm glad you think Jack's shift back to himself was logical, too. I tried to be very careful about it; a shift like that doesn't (can't) happen overnight, and I tried to show every step of the way so readers could take that journey with him. I'm pleased to know I succeeded. :)

Thanks so much for reading and commenting. You've made my day!
