Liar, Justine Larbalestier

YA, but so deep I think most of it is going to go over Brittany's head. Takes the concept of "unreliable narrator" to the furthest extremes. Even when you think you know what's going on, Micah, the narrator, turns your world upside down again.

The Neverending Story, Michael Ende

One of my favorite childhood movies, so I really wanted to like the book. But once we got past where the movie ends, it dragged and dragged and dragged until they got to the POINT, and then the last third was good. But the middle bit, where Bastian was just wandering around, being a prat? Nearly insufferable.

44.A Dirty Job, Christopher Moore

Death has helpers. Like Santa. And they don't always want the job. Also includes a toddler with the ability to kill with a word. I loved it. It might be my second favorite Moore book, after Lamb.

Book 39 was A Short History of Carvanning In the UK by Richard Hammond, another one of his humorous picture books. Like Car Confidential it was amusing and fun, with lots of references to blowing up caravans. I was amused.

The Artifact, Patrick Astre

Audiobook.

I'll simply say this: It ended with a 12 year old wheelchair-bound computer hacker hacking into an alien artifact that was millions of years old and changing it's mission. To "creating music".

The rest of the book was about as well written as the ending. Blech.

34. Lake Effect: A Deckhand's Journey on the Great Lakes Freighters, by Richard Hill - this started out well. He was young, it was an adventurous job.
