Pre-Scoping Update

 I leave for Ecuador tomorrow for a month. A month of "scoping" to find a place where maybe just maybe in a year or two I can return and begin a year of intense fieldwork for my dissertation. I'm starting in Quito. If it sucks by the end of two weeks, i'll jump on a flight to Cuenca and spend the following two weeks trying to do what I failed to do

Everyone feels like a fraud in grad school. I still feel like a fraud a lot of the time. You're diving in over your head to find out something you don't already know -- the very condition of research is a recipe for feeling like a fraud.

Well why not be nervous? Shows you are paying attention! Just so proud to be your mama, and know you will land on your feet. You've always found a way when you put your mind to something and ask for help when you need it.
