Wow. How is it that it has taken me so long to realize how much better buying music from Amazon MP3 is compared to iTunes? See the following reasons:

  • DRM Free tracks - work with iTunes AND other players
  • Some songs are 0.89 as opposed to 0.99 cents
  • Download interface is decent (not as flashy as iTunes, but easy enough)
  • Did I mention DRM-FREE???

Just curious, what does DRM stand for? I don't use either places to get music, so I'm not very lingo-savy :)

Ah, it's probably better that you don't use either, haha. Anyway, DRM stands for Digital Rights Management. It's basically copy protection software that comes on the song track (or CD) to prevent illegal copying/piracy. The problem, though, is that DRM tracks are usually specific to one kind of player (iTunes, Windows Media Player, Napster, etc.) so if I buy a DRM protected track from iTunes, I can only play it using iTunes or an iPod. DRM-free tracks, on the other hand, work with anything that can play MP3's. Sorry for rambling, lesson over :)
