Oh, this was perfect! And I haven't even seen the film yet, only read the book, but this fit right in and provided a much needed bit between Marcus and Esca....And since I'm a hopeless h/c fnagirl, it pushed all those buttons in just the right way, too. :)

Thanks for a wonderful story!

Oh, hurray! I'm so happy you liked it - and I'm really pleased it also worked for you alongside the book. You are going to love the film!!!

Heh, there's going to be a fair old quota of h/c and UST throughout the story, and thank you so much for reading it! ♥

Ohhhh ♥ THANK YOU :D I fretted so much about whether I'd got the characters right, so that means A LOT that you think that. There will be more!

HI NEW AUTHOR I WOULD LIKE TO ROLL IN THIS FIC FOREVER.

*cough*

Er, that is, I am REALLY EXCITED to see a story so well-researched, and also written so beautifully and in a way that feels natural instead of like you ate a textbook. (Also, I like your take on the characters so far, but I will squee more about that when I am done being GLEEFUL about the research.)

“The Dumnonii? They are Britons, yes, and fine men. But they are not my people.”

FOR THIS ALONE, ♥

I did catch a couple misspellings: subcaligatum should be subligaculum, and bracae should be braccae. (Incidentally, it's not clear that Romans did wear subligacula all the time, and not just for exercise, or if it was a personal preference thing, or what. Not an error, just a tidbit.)

I cannot wait for more, seriously.

MAN I KNOW. Um. Yes. I love the research sooooo much. It is the best fandom because it has research.

*nods* I like to leave them off most of the time for, uh, convenience, but either is a reasonable choice.

Interesting! I have not seen the single-c spelling anywhere--double-c seems to be overwhelmingly preferred.

*bounces with joy*
