When working with a large number of Java libraries packaged as JARs, grep is often an efficient way of finding where a package is defined. In ZIP files (a class which includes JAR files), the folder structure isn't compressed, so even in compressed JARs you can easily find whether a folder structure matching a certain package exists in it.
