Arashi’s style and ideas of global activities (part 3)

In Japan, in the past 2-3 years, we also see many entertainers from various countries entering the market, so how do you feel about it? Sakurai san, I think, since you're also a news caster, perhaps there are many occasions when you come in contact with discussions about the weakening of ( Read more... )

deshou?

but then again, japanese people, in general are very nationalistic. and so i also understand where they're coming from. plus to add, i think they had all the more sense of being nationalistic after the tsunami happened.

though i also hope the JE jimusho would again help arashi to see their international fans just like what they did when they had AAA before. another AAA won't probably hurt, right?

Yup.
Embracing the 'outside' of Japan wouldn't hurt. And besides all their concerts would be around Japan anyways. That in itself would be acknowledgement of international fans and a chance to promote their 'cool Japan' image.

I have nothing against their nationalistic views but sometimes it narrows the prospective chances of all concerned.

Since i entered this fandom, i knew overseas concerts (except for the asian tours) were a big NO-NO for most of the western side, there's no way it could happen, with all the diferences our culture provide us(yeah, even in this modern times).
And for them (japaneses, though it's in general with asian culture) is like that.
Besides they don't own the popularity k-pop industry have, were most of the groups are dominated by a strong western style. Not like Arashi who keeps their japanese influence (in lets say 98.5%) and are for everybody's taste.
Anyway, i think Arashi is what it is thanks to that, to stay in Japan's pocket. Though, i still think they are unfair with international fandom, they know we exist but they can't aknowledge that..

Thank you very much for sharing this translation with us ^^

Thank you for translating ^^

I understand their mind set, and I do understand that anything Japan is very pricey, the fact still that outside Japan, maybe perhaps only in taiwan and south korea will they sell their concert well. my country is stil stuck in Kpop craze :(

That's really sad. :( But I will definitely support them no matter what. And for now, I need to work hard to be able to migrate to Japan for good! haha
