I absolutely agree with your last statement - for all of the games and the contrived conversations, the false bravado - there's a weird muscle flex when you realize that every single person in a room at a party or bar is manipulating or maneuvering around the same insecurities you're trying hard to hide or shirk.

The key is to connect with the person who shares the same "secret" and (hopefully) shows it with the smirk of the true autodidact.

I've been lapse in my online circles as well. I've been focusing on music, but recently just started sitting down and writing again. I'm good, living in the city in the tiniest of tiny studio apartments. Life is life, and I can't complain. Cute name for your journal, BTW!
