So after several years of singing the priases of Progressive Insurance as a car insurance company, I now place them squarely at the top of my shit list. It's about 8 o'clock at night as I write this. I had been feeling kind of down today. Not necessarily depressed, just kind of ho hum bored. Earlier this morning my Dad called me to tell me that my Grandmother was in the hospital. For an 86-year old woman in the middle stages of Alzheimers, this didn't terribly surprise me. What did upset me was HOW she ended up in the hospital. She apparently had TWO strokes AND a heart attack, then fell and hit her head, which resulted in a concussion ( Read more... )

So, early last week I mailed in my passport and new photos and all the requisite paperwork to the National Passport Agency to get my passport renewed since it was expiring at the end of May. The promotion stuff is enough to make me happy for today (and the next several days) but a current obsession of mine while I've been sick is playing Star Wars: Battlefront. So, as I enter the homestretch in getting over this headcold which has had me miserable since Saturday, I get another piece of good news. My boss, Steve, called me this morning and gave me the good news that I would be getting a promotion at work.
