In 1990, a movie was made called, "Akira Kurosawa's Dreams". Has anyone ever heard of it/seen it? If so, was it any good? I've been trying to find it, but have had difficulty.
I have it. It was one of the first Kurosawa films I ever saw, so I have a special place for it in my heart. It's true that it's not his best work, but still defintily a movie worth seeing. I would suggest renting it if you can find it, but, if all else fails, you can also pick it up on Amazon, or any other large online retailer.
I picked up a copy from my local library. I've heard that it was one of the last films he made, and that he put all of his energy into it. It's supposed to be a collection of his dreams, fears, wishes, etc. It is simply astonishing in its sheer beauty, and at times its crippling horror. I agree with fnordx in that while it is perhaps not his best, it is definitely a must see film.
It is, visually, one of the most beautiful films ever made. It's probably not as great a film as Seven Samurai or Ikiru, but certain episodes are on a par with his best work. I love it dearly.
