first, i want to thank you for taking the time to tell me about his death. it's important- your daughter was important. some of us have never forgotten nor have we forgiven what happend to your precious daughter in our community. she was a guest- she deserved our hospitality and respect . she deserved to be protected from scum like rosario whom we both know should never have been free. his parole should have been revoked

I was in Boston when I met Orla. I too was working there for the summer. I got a job in a bank, due to Orla telling me about a temp job which was coming up ( she was happy in the job that she had at a golf club, so told me to go for the job she knew about.).
I came home. Orla didn't. It still breaks my heart. I'm 39 years old now. Orla should be too. I still scan the web once in a while to remember her and see how others are benefiting from awards in Orlas' name.
Pedro Rosario was allowed to live for so long. Where is the justice in that ? I hope he's in hell and burning in flames.
Tom I often think of Orla, I lived in brookline and she stayed with us and her two friends when they came out until they found an apartment. We had a particularly great chat one night on our porch. Orla has passed to a better place but Tom her memory will never be forgotten Tanya Quigley-Boylan

WE,Orla`s family, appreciate your thoughts ,thanks. There is one point which I would like to make.We did sue the Mass probation department whose ineptitude contributed to Orla`s death. We agreed a settlement which comprised a full apology,a copy of the full report and recommendations of the enquiry and a donation to the "Orla Benson Memorial Scholarship" in the school of Biotecnology at Dublin City University where she graduated. The donation was to match that of the Allston/Brighton community thousands of whom contributed to the fund in April 1996.A few days before the agreement was to be implemented the state passed a law giving the Mass. probation dept. immunity from prosecution. They renaigued on the agreement subsequent to this and so they cannot be called to account and continue to allow dangerous animals to walk the streets with impunity. The schoolgirl raped by Rosario under his supervision agreed a settlement of 300,000$ with The City of Boston on Sept28th 2001. See Verdictsearch site ,Brimage versus City of Boston and Pedro Rosario. Had she pursued her case after the rape -----------------
Orla was one of my closest friends at DCU. Not a week goes by that I stll don't think of her. She was truely a wonderful person - selfless, kind, gentle, generous to a fault, honest, innocent, so humorous, bursting with happiness, fun and love of life. She only saw the good in people. I also write her name into Google every now and then as I feared the despicable monster that killed her might be released early. I got the shock of my life today when I entered her name on Google and found this article and realised that the monster died in prison last year. I have been completely overwhelmed with grief, relief and release ever since. I guess i have never gotten over her death like so many dozens of people who knew and loved Orla. To know Orla was to love Orla. In all the time I spent at DCU I never heard one person say anything bad about her. Lecturers and students alike were charmed by her. Orla was a unique, hugely special irreplacable person who would have changed this world for the better had she been given the chance. She was
