BEDA No. 23: Fan mail in 2009

Apr 23, 2009 18:13

When I was eleven I drew a picture of Weird Al, for Weird Al, and mailed it off to his "Close Personal Friends of Al" fanclub address.

A week or so later I got back an autographed 8x10 that read "Hey ALAN, thanks for the GREAT drawing! Weird Al Yankovic, damaged in handling, please accept our apologies - your post office" The glossy had been ripped ( Read more... )

tl;dr - but read it anyway!

Awesome, can't wait to read it. And yeah, I love @replies on twitter, especially when that person actually updates their own twitter.

I @replied to the question on twitter, but to answer the next question: no I haven't gotten a response back from either of those 2. I have talked with Meghan Tonjes some on twitter and youtube though. So that is probably the closest to fanmail and response I've had. Unless you count interactions with you online (blogtv, here, twitter, youtube).

And no, I think this did just fine as a blog.

She's a singer on youtube (tonjesml and 1 part of ProjectLifesize) with 1 album out so far. She's a nerdfighter and has been to some of the blogtv chats including your last one I think.

I send fanmail all the time! I haven't gotten a response back, though. I send an email to Ben Folds after every concert... which is probably more like stalking than fandom =(

I never got fanmail, but the best compliment I ever got was when I played open mic nights as William Shatner Blues Explosion, and a very drunk fellow called me the Andy Kaufman of West Virginia. My second favorite was when someone called me a f----t Pokemon, though I'm pretty sure they weren't intending it to be positive.

Aww, I wish Ben would reply to you. My friend (well okay, my casual acquaintance that I've spoken to maybe twice) Julia Nunes played a show on stage with him. I was jealous.

1. Do fan e-mails count? Because I do that all the time. And @replies on twitter? Do that a lot, too.
2. A few times, yes. (:
3. Have not. Then again, I'm not talented enough to have "fans." Just friends. (:
4. Much better as a blog. Just saying.

E-mails totally count! Yeah, I really really don't think I know hwo to vlog. Comedy sketches, check. Collabs, triple check. But vlogs? Ugh.
