Documentary On Punk 1987 - Teil 1

I don't know what I love more about this "documentary", the 50's style Mental Hygiene narrator, the description of slam dancing as a "macabre dance of despair, violently hitting each other instead of the outside world", or the idea of a "De-Punking Center."

Sadly it is not a joke.

Man, if life and the Republican party have taught me anything, it's that people LOVE to be afraid.

I'm especially fond of the fear of recruitment. This video makes it sound like the punk movement was so well organized that it could systematically infiltrate the public schools and turn perfectly innocent, straight-A virgins into violent criminals. It's the same kind of fear we hear these days with regard to homosexuality. The idea of gay recruiters is hilarious to me.

Ironically religious groups are the ones doing the recruiting. I guess they assume that every other group has an evangelical mission too.
