And so what did you think of the show? I loved it. I did think they rushed the lines a hair but once I got used to it it was all good. We did stick around after the show and was able to get everyone but the Asian gals (I can't remember her name) autograph. The sucky part was that that morning I got complete laryngitis. Alan wasn't taking pictures with fans, but we could take pictures as he came down the row to sign play bills. I tried to squeek at him "Happy belated Birthday" ( we went 2 days after his B-day) and my friend had to translate for me. She told him that I was also a huge fan. He then told me that he hoped I felt better soon. I about passed out on the spot. Yeah, I'm a squeeing fan-gurl! :)
I loved it! I'm a writer who goes to a small liberal-arts college in New England, and my friend is a graduate from a small liberal-arts college in New England (his school is about twenty minutes away from mine, actually) where graduating theses have to be at *least* 60 pages long, so we both knew ALL the characters.
I wish I could have met him! He always seems so lovely and polite to his fans (even the ones who don't deserve it, like the one chick who asked him, very snottily, why he'd cancelled a performance in November; you know, when he had pneumonia? If I'd have been there, I'd have said, "Because he had pneumonia, and I've had pneumonia, and do you know what pneumonia does to a person if they don't rest up properly from it?" Then I'd have pulled out my inhaler, taken a long, exaggerated puff on it, and given her my best creepy-doll smile.), but I was so tired, I think I'd have embarrassed myself by yelling something like, "I WANNA HAVE YOUR BABIES!" or "ADOPT ME!" Or some awful, dipshitty-sounding combination of them.
i saw it in November it was absolutely fantastic! i got a pic of Alan & autographs but nobody actually got time to say more than a few words to him... or get a picture *with* him (which was what i was hoping for)
Haha, my friends took pics of me in front of those posters too, and we all laughed at how it looked like I was in the cast. Sad you didn't get to meet him. I didn't either; we caught a matinee and he didn't come out (Jerry O'Connell did, but silly me stubbornly only had my Snowcake DVD for signing, which would have made no sense). This is how close I was to him:
One time while I was waiting in line to get into the theatre there were several girls taking photos of themselves with the giant poster of Rickman's face (with "how much would you pay..." on it). They were striking all these silly poses, I hope they'll surface online at some point, it was a hoot.
Glad you enjoyed the show. I liked it enough to see it twice... once during previews, again at the end of January. It was cool to see how it had changed shape since then.
