I haven't logged into live journal in a year or two and then it was only to see if it was still active and they had not deleted my profile. I decided to come back today and see if this group still existed. It seems like so long ago I first began running this page. My son was an infant, I know that much and he turned 13 this week. I am just devastated. I got to watch him film a movie for several days a couple of years ago. I also saw him several times outside the stage door while he was on Broadway but I got lucky once at a dinner after a reading we both attended and got to talk to him for about 10 minutes. He was so kind to me as I nervously stumbled to say something coherent. I really would have liked to have had the chance to see him again and tell him I did get to go to the UK and see some of the things we talked about. What I will miss the most though is knowing he isn't out there creating new characters and memories for us. We will have to just hold on to the ones we have now.

Thanks for sharing this story with us. I don't know if I would've had the guts to even approach him even though he was such a kind and humble guy... May I ask what movie it was that you watched him film? I would've loved to see him work on A Little Chaos...

I always wanted to but never got around (as it always is with life) to see him in a play. That just shows not to postpone things you really want to do bc you never know...

It was CBGB when it was being filmed in Savannah, GA.

I know how you feel about postponing. I found out late the day before he was doing all those interviews for A Little Chaos in NYC. The AOL talk, Jimmy Fallon and there was one other. Had I just known that would be the last chance I would have to see him I would have paid the exorbitant airline price and flown there to see him.:(

I am so heartbroken, and I can only imagine how Rima and his family must be feeling. He was my favorite actor- an actor's actor- and I just feel lost without my muse.

Like Bowie, it was out of the blue, although his marrying Rima after 50 years was, in retrospect, probably a sign.

Another great voice stilled too soon.

I thought so too at first. But from what I read he didn't know yet when he married her?!
