I love the movie City of Angels, for all it's good and bad. Lots of metaphysical/philosophical why-are-we-here and where-are-we-going types of thoughts.

Pajamas.

But having a baby makes watching the beginning a little tough.

Do you believe in angels? Either way, I think this movie nails a good contemporary vision of them.

I didn't want to like the move. Really I didn't. But I can't help myself.

City of Angels was ruined for me by Wings of Desire -- which I loved. And normally I really really like Nicholas Cage, so it really was just that I had liked WoD so much that I couldn't bear a Hollywood style remake.

Yes, I do believe in Angels, and Saints, and Miracles.

I tend to have a much more metaphysical concept about angels, though, so I'm not sure I agree about the way these angels were presented. I'm not sure there is such a thing as a "contemporary angel". But it's a good story, and having preconceived notions about the nature of angels didn't destroy the story for me.

I feel exactly the same. It is hard to enjoy City of Angels after you have seen Wings of Desire.

My favourite movie angels are the ones from Dogma, especially the Metatron. The fallen angels in Hex and Fallen were pretty intriguing, though...but why did it take those numbskulls in Fallen 4 hours to figure out "the Light Bringer" and Lucifer were the same dude?

I meant to respond to this when you first posted it and forgot until today.

I completely and totally believe in angels, and have even seen a few. I spent quite a long while when I lived out East communicating and helping others communicate with angels. It was pretty cool. Now I just talk to my angel and my kids.
