It's definitely just a momentary pause - Rory will be back to his usual snarky self in the next chapter, I promise. As for Charlie, well, he couldn't be exactly the same as in Lost because he hasn't had the same experiences yet. He will change a little bit, but not for a while. Thanks for commenting.

it was like getting a birthday pressie early last night when i saw the update! (thank god for time zones. *grin* )

I loved the slight shift of balance in this. McManus, asking Charlie to call him Rory at least in private, was cool. I just imagine the walls Rory has up as 20 feet tall and 10 feet thick. Once he's back to his old self, I still can picture him asserting himself (even if privately he'll feel like crap) over Charlie, leaving Charlie feeling a bit like a kicked puppy.
