Chris gave him a slightly odd look but said nothing and continued on his way.
I do like this Chris. He's a smart man, and he misses nothing. Including Charlie calling The Shark "Rory". bwahahaha.
I liked how Charlie took such good care of Rory even when he was pissed off at him. I'm also glad he spoke up just a little. Not enough to get his face pushed in, but enough to just say back off a bit! Are you gonna tell us what was in that brown envelope?
Thank you! I didn't want anyone to forget that Charlie has a temper, even when he knows it'll get him in trouble. he envelope isn't important - it was just a way of letting people know that Rory isn't his first name. In fact, "Rory" isn't his second name, either, but I haven't been able to work out how to get fit that into the narrative, so it may have to wait until one of the C100 stories.
Well, it was inevitable that Charlie was going to fall for him (it's a romance, after all!). As to what Rory's thinking... it'll be a while before we find out for sure. Until then there's only Charlie's speculation. *g*
I'm so liking this, it feels easy, not huge angst, just a lot of hitches and odd moments of affection and annoyance, sometimes at the same time. Really satisfying.

"Thanks. I'll get the key off Rory in a minute."
