Wow, that really really sucks. I hope there is a way to retrieve your file!! (I've had to totally re-type a story before, when I accidentally deleted it at home, using an older printed-out version....that wasn't fun...) Redoing parts you've already done is never fun and is usually a motivation killer, I agree.
Can you use a flash drive, instead? Or do your computers at work not take them? I could loan you one until you buy one. (I have 3, and one is currently delegated to "back-up only" and it's been more than a year since I backed anything up on it, so it's waaaay out-of-date...for anything I've been working on, that is...)
It was fun going cross-country skiing today. Weather was definitely lovely. I need to get outside more. I will email you my few pictures when I put them on the computer, if you want them?
I rewrote it all last night, and I'm sure I wrote it better this time around, but I still hate losing something that was my own. Like losing a bit of your memory--butyou KNOW you lost it and just can't get it back.
Thanks for commiserating. :) We can't use flash drives at work. Back before I knew this, I brought mine and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work...Not allowed to use those, CDs, DVDs, or any non-Company-issued devices like that. Thanks for the offer, though!
Agreed! I'm sore today, of course, but it as worth the workout! Yes, I would love to see the pictures when you put them on the computer, please. I've never been to Tamarack in the winter before, so it was nice seeing what the land looked like in this season. I'm so glad you came along. :)
Well, at least it's done, now, but I know what you mean about losing something you wrote, even if the new one is better...
No flash drives? Yuck. I suppose they're worried about business secrets and personal info. of clients getting stolen and used for misdeeds....
I still write best on paper, even if it means I then need to type it all up, which I hate doing. Seems like the act of typing just...cuts off the flow of creativity until the river is completely dammed.
Yup, I'm a bit sore today, too. (I only took about 5 pictures, I think...) I'm glad you guys invited me!
