Child of Nahadoth; Or, An Epic Crossover of Epic Epicness

Mar 13, 2011 23:12

(I see the sparkletext generator is down again. Curses.)

I recently read The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms. First off: READ THE HUNDRED THOUSAND KINGDOMS. READ IT RIGHT NOW.* THEN READ IT AGAIN. THEN CHECK OUT THE BROKEN KINGDOMS AND READ THAT TOO. These fantasy books, by N.K. Jemisin, are remarkable for several reasons:

rocking out, writing, i heart ennyousai, my rad bromance with redcirce, down to the underground, holy shit no one cares

IT IS AWESOMELY AWESOME! However, I am holding out for book 2 to hit paperback or the library, for I am cheap.

I am very glad that you like those books! She has a duology planned for the future too, that's going to be based more in Egyptian mythology, and I am uber-excited for it. :)

I SAW THAT. ON HER BLOG. BECAUSE I'M STALKING HER. I MEAN... UH... OH HEY, WHAT'S THAT OVER THERE?

In all seriousness, I am absolutely joyful at the prospect of reading anything and everything else she writes.

READ IT. FIND A WAY.

Why the small doses? I am not familiar with the book (it SOUNDS familiar, but I don't think I actually know anything about it).

It's a Sci-Fi novel where a modern black woman from LA gets transported back to the pre Civil-War South. It's really really good so far, but the parts where she's in the South are pretty intense, and I can only handle so much of it at once D:

These books sound awesome; I've actually never heard of them before. I will put them on my list.
BADASSED MOTHERFUCKING FEMALE PROTAGONIST OF COLOR GODDAMN;
Seriously why are are fantasy books always so white? It makes me sad. And angry.

Your epic crossover sounds epic. However, you failed to detail how glitter fits into this alternate world. BECAUSE IT IS IMPORTANT.

Also: When I read this entry I was randomly listening to a youtube Depeche Mode playlist even though I haven't listened to Depeche Mode in a long time.

All of the gods have affinities, like things for which they are the patron god. I HEREBY DECLARE JARETH THE GOD OF BROODING AND GLITTER. Also owls and misbegotten angst, if he has time.

Sarah will be an actor. She will have had a run-in with this god as a child, where she rescued her brother form his clutches, but not remember it in adulthood until the god returns to woo her. BROODINGLY.
