New player-of-media

I picked up a new toy today: An Acer Aspire Rivo. It's a small, diamond-shaped thin that is basically a weak Atom-CPU stapled to a screaming-fast GF9400. This gives it some interesting properties, and foretells what is to come in the computing world ( Read more... )

Not as it's set up now, no. I use it primarily as a media player, playing stuff that's downloaded from the Internet.

But there's a lot of stuff on the Internet, and without metering it begins to look like a better deal than cable.

That's a fair call. Unfortunately, we can't trust that local content will be put on the net, and some of it isn't bad.

we've got a similar setup, but we haven't been able to stream music nicely from a NAS where all the music is either in linux or windows, making it less useful than we had hoped
