I picked up a new toy today: An Acer Aspire Rivo. It's a small, diamond-shaped thin that is basically a weak Atom-CPU stapled to a screaming-fast GF9400. This gives it some interesting properties, and foretells what is to come in the computing world

Sounds great, but can it record digital TV signals?

Not as it's set up now, no. I use it primarily as a media player, playing stuff that's downloaded from the Internet.

But there's a lot of stuff on the Internet, and without metering it begins to look like a better deal than cable.

That's a fair call. Unfortunately, we can't trust that local content will be put on the net, and some of it isn't bad.

we've got a similar setup, but we haven't been able to stream music nicely from a NAS where all the music is either in linux or windows, making it less useful than we had hoped
