"Then you’ll get invited to the Fortune 500 pool party/dance contest/drive-in-movie/pot-luck supper." = best line ever (in context, of course)
Good luck having a productive summer. Learning to swim and cook sound like wonderful goals to have. And as for the driving, I am with you. I think I forgot how to drive (if that's possible) and need to relearn. Or maybe I just need to get over this intense fear of car accidents so I can get back behind the wheel.
Oh and for swimming, I would recommend goggles. The water seems far less scary when you can see clearly. Have fun!
It's people like you who've caused me so much undue angst over the years. There will be no ocean-throwing on this trip. Besides, Massachusetts beaches in June? I'd die of hypothermia well before any swimming ever took place.
no, it's important to get out to the massachusetts beaches early, so that we don't feel inferior to the west coast. the icy cold water makes us strong and hardy (and don'y you want to be strong and hardy?), makes real men out of us.
it's people like me who try to help you get over your weaknesses, rather than coddling you. we want you to be a fearless leader-smith, not a leader-smith-with-weird(yes weird!)-phobias.
i'm with victoria - i love your livejournal. and don't worry about the non-swimming - then when you go to the fortune 500 pool party/dance contest/everything else wonderful, you can be the guy who lounges on the lawn chair next to the water, looking mysterious and always wearing sunglasses. I mean, you can't wear sunglasses if you're busy playing in the water, can you?

when you come to boston, maybe we should just go to the beach, and greg and i can toss you into the ocean.

good luck with your productive goals. mine always tend to completely wash out, and all of a sudden, summer's over.
