Well, I was involved in a minor car accident yesterday. It was raining and the roads were pretty slick. I braked in order to make a certain turn but slid forward too far. I felt a violent impact and assumed I'd slammed into the curb. Trying not to panic, I drove further down the road so I could turn around and get back to the street I was going for ( Read more... )

In New Zealand, unless you're pulled out in front of/cut off, you're always responsible for rear ending someone since the law states you must maintain a safe following distance. Safe meaning you can stop in time if some crazy shit goes down in front of you. I presume the law is the same in the States, because it's a pretty sensible law. And lights are really easy to fix; most of the time you can unscrew them from the body and chuck a new one in, in about half an hour tops. Plus, a whole new light wouldn't set you back more than $30, and being a taillight, the bulbs will be next to nothing. Not to mention that the other person's insurance should cover it all, provided you weren't driving illegally. :p

Haha at least you can say you've had your first "get-hit-and-run." :p

If you're that worried about getting pulled over for the broken tail light, use the official hand signals that are used by cyclists and drivers with defective signals. You'll look like a bit of a douche doing it but it's probably better than getting a ticket :monster:

I did consider that, but I fear the stigma will overcome me. Hey, at least my right signal works. I just need to figure out a way to get places by only taking right turns.
