So given that I now truly have new growth on both my lavender and rosemary plants, I think I'm ready to pronounce my "stick a twig in a pot of dirt" rooting technique a success. This article on tiny laptops (netbooks) seems like a possibility for replacing my 2003 Powerbook when the time comes that I really can't resurrect it. I'd prefer to keep using the Macintosh operating system, but I've never really liked the 13" size of their current smallest laptops. Vermiculture!
As of yesterday afternoon, I'm now the proud owner of a worm composting bin, brought to me by Freecycle. What I really didn't expect, though, is.....drumroll here......that it would actually come with worms! For some reason, I thought I was getting a container, and nothing more. Nope! Wrong. Oh, sandwiches.
So the Guardian had a tiny article tucked into the jobs page today about the benefits of packing your own sandwich--cheaper, healthier food, you actually get what you want in the quantities you want, and there's less packaging.
