Summer of Movies
Over at Metacritic "WALL-E" is sitting pretty at a score of 93. So far this summer I've seen a lot of movies, and TDK aside, I actually liked Kung-fu Panda a lot. Wall-E was a steaming pile of crap and I have my doubts about seeing another Pixar movie in the future, especially since Ratatouille kind of sucked too ( Read more... ) -
More TDK + Christian Bale
After seeing The Dark Knight for the third time I have to say I appreciate even more all the little touches and the sheer number of themes running through the movie. A lot of it is done subtly and well, some of it cheesy and heavy-handed (I still find the ferry scene cliched and overlong). The action sequences are mostly beyond criticism, well ( Read more... ) -

TDK was excellent, completely beyond any expectations I had. It was of course beyond popcorn summer fare, comic book movie fare, and everything that was mentioned in like a million reviews (metacritic, rotten tomatoes etc.) but the scope of the movie was so expansive that it actually shifted my view of what a movie could be or do. Amazon and E-books
In theory, the idea of a large online retailer like Amazon selling e-books is a great idea, a step in the right direction. In reality, the way that they choose to implement it...well, in my mind I imagine an army of lawyers, a million meetings, and the consumers as sheep chained together led to slaughter. I went into a mini book craze and caught up on some of my to read list.
I can sort of recommend of Quatrefoil. My only reservations have to do with all the rationalization that goes on about the nature of human sexuality and the ending. I feel that not all the dialog on the topic was necessary, and the ending plain sucked (though it might have been ( Read more... ) -

Laruku - Hurry Xmas
OMG the PV! This has got to be the funniest thing they have ever made. Like how tetsu and hyde are wearing NO SLEEVES (better to show off their tattoos) while all the drunk Santas were in full winter suits. The insertion of clay-mation, so cute!. hyde's got New World hair back! Wee! The bit at the end with the kid and the Santa XD. -
