I saw "Avatar" tonight. As I said on my Facebook page, the appeal of midnight showings is that if I can manage to stay awake, then the movie must be half decent. If I fall asleep during the first act, then at least I didn't waste a Saturday night on it

Three out of four is still pretty decent.

I am REALLY jonesin' to see this when I visit the family next week.

You must! Whatever the plot/writing failings, it's still very entertaining; and that's the whole point.
