Me, you and everyone we know.

Never have I connected with a film so poignantly on an emotional, intellectual and intuitive level. My only regret about this film is the fact that I missed the first five to seven minutes which in a sense compromised the full effect, but definitely not the affect. I think Miranda July is a genius. Not only did she perfectly capture the deep ( Read more... )

I was disappointed in it too. I still thought it was interesting... and it touched upon important subjects, like the emotional lack in male culture... but it was just missing something. My favorite scene was the one with the Mom from 'Six Feet Under.' She's such a great actress.

Nah uh... I just say things differently. Did you see that Miranda July has a blog? And they have t-shirts with the (( <> )) symbol on them? I want one.

I know, I was actually thinking about writing to her because she has a po box. I don't know what the point would be other to say that I support her and admire her. And why not? Who else is out there who is a young woman and who makes an impact in the film industry? Sophia Coppola? She would have made it whether she was talented or not thanks to her family. Miranda July just seems like an average person who has some real brains and some real talent and some real balls to actually go out there and do something with it. I admire her, but at the same time it makes me feel like I was doing... something.

I'd be interested to know if any of her live story was written into it, but I'm not convinced it was. Apparently she's a pretty well established performance artist (so that much is true), and she has done a few short films before this one. I can't believe that she is only 30 and she has accomplished this much. I enjoy the minimalist realism too, but at the same time it worries me because it speaks to issues that I find devastating about contemporary life.

That’s so neat! I had no idea Miranda July was the director of this film, I was only familiar with her has a musician.
I was trying to convince Nuno to go with me to Buffalo to see this movie a couple weekends ago, but now it’s not showing there anymore. After reading what you said I’m regretting not seeing it.

She is a musician too? Holy shit, she's one of 'those' people who manages to do so much and is so talented and actually gets recognized for everything she does. I read on her website that she has an installation at the gallery here in Victoria... I'm going to go see it. You should totally rent the movie when it comes out, or maybe see if it's still playing in Toronto.
