That is a BBC bake-off cake, I like that program a lot (it might have influenced my current interest in baking :D)
I find that wearing something that is called "SI belt" helps me a bit, but not really as the problem never goes away fully. I tend to wear it at work because it helps me to sit straight. I keep wanting to try the brace but my physiotherapist says I should try without them.
Oh, thank you for the recs! Long Price Quartet sounds particular good as I really liked the authors' Expanse space opera series ("Leviathan Awakes"). He wrote them under James S. A. Corey name. I will definitely check this series. I tend to breeze through the books now I am listening to them, so I find that book series are particular welcome.
I missed you! I'm sorry it's not all well, but I'm glad that you have the swimming to help.
Another LJ buddy struggled for two years with debilitating back pain that was SI but I know this can be so complex. Here's hoping that the current treatment does the trick. In her case, PT did the trick to help tilt the pelvis and strengthen the muscles that supported this.
As for books, I'm on Goodreads where I rate a lot, even when I don't leave detailed reviews: http://www.goodreads.com/jliedl - mostly romance, mystery and history.
I was quite positive that what I have was SI joint problem at one point (my problems seemed fitting with the things I have read about it online), but I don't know what to think at the moment. PT doesn't seem to work too well for me. There is a definite improvement in my posture, but not as much in the pain levels. I will definitely try to do the steroid injection in the spine cartilage, if only to exclude this from the consideration.
Thank you for your goodreads page! Can I add you as my friend there? I have opened a page too where I intend to post more reviews in the future.
Oh, thank you! I missed your LJ anniversary - congratulations!
Oh yes, I have a standing solution at work. It also helps a bit. I can't use it the whole day (my leg is affected as well) but it does provide necessary breaks. My husband made it for me: I have a sort of box-y thing on one side of my desk, with the second monitor. When I need I just switch between the monitors and stand for a bit. Lol, I am using almost everything I can. :D But to tell the truth, I thing all these things combined allow me to manage.
It's lovely to see you, but I'm so sorry to hear the pain is still ongoing. I have SI issues, but clearly much milder than yours. I take Aleve and that keeps things enough under control that I'm fine most of the time. I'm very glad your work is so understanding, though, because that makes a huge difference.
Books...hmmmm... I really liked The Angels Are the Reapers by...someone whose name I've forgotten. I've had very little chance to read lately, though, because work has been keeping me busy. I did read the new bio of Leonard Cohen, but it's not terribly well written, though I enjoyed it for the info it contained.
