Tea Time!

May 12, 2012 01:24

Hey guys! So I just finished the last of this delicious green tea given to me by the Korean. (Not The Korean, just our Korean. Ahaha we're so offensive.) Anyway, I'm looking for some new, delicious tea. I'd prefer not to go back to Lipton or even pre-packaged tea in general.

I've heard good things about Adagio, but I would like your opinions, dear ( Read more... )

tea, curiosity

SEND AWAY. \

But seriously, he calls me Blonde. Not even Blondie, but Blonde. We- had some language barriers at first and then there was a whole 'you don't have a greencard!' thing. So yeah. Not meant to be offensive in any way. :3

I don't drink coffee, either. I usually only had chamomile and green tea, so I'm looking to broaden my horizon. And not be so damn lame. >__>

But I love hot cocoa! It's one of my favorite drinks. :D

Oolong. Best Thing Ever.

I know there's a beverage meme question I answered a while back where I regurgitated a list of teas I liked, but there's a nice Good Eats episode on tea. I have it on my external; I'll upload it for you tomorrow <333333

Loose leaf is the way to go, man. (and don't buy tea infusers, they don't give the leaves enough room to expand)

Mine too! alexdonnelly May 12 2012, 16:38:08 UTC
Ooo yummy. I prefer loose leaf now, but it was a strange day when I left behind my tea bags. I was considering those reusable ones, you know the ones you make? I'm not sure, though; it's a comfort thing I guess.

Yay for more info! Thank you, Saraaaaaaahhhh~ <333

First: Alton Brown's Tea Episode. He talks about leaf quality, brewing time and such.

There's fun tea ceremony stuff and "washing" the leaves information, but that can all come later.

Ahh!! I know exactly what you mean with the comfort thing. I bought a packet of disposable tea pouches when I first got started with loose tea too. <3 Tbh, you'll still get a full flavor if you use larger/better quality leaves ( ... )

Tea for Alex! \o/ alexdonnelly May 12 2012, 22:13:29 UTC
Thank you for the episode. I love learning new things, especially if it leads to deliciousness!

Hmm. I think I'll start with the tea bag thingies until I get more comfortable with it. How do you brew your tea?

I've gotten Earl Grey from a friend but I didn't much care for it. Of course, that was one cup ages ago, so I may give it another go. I've heard that this citron green tea tastes like fruity pebbles. Mmm liquid cereal. XD I think I'll look around a bit and order some samples of the ones that sound interesting/are recommended.

So many new things to try! 8D

I love mint tea the most :-)

If there is a Whole Foods or some other snooty-food grocery store near you (We're OrGANic! LOL) they often have, in their tea section, an array of bulk loose leaf teas. I...got a few teaspoons of several and have been working my way through them :-)

Tea strainer is the way to go :-) Make your tea in a little pot, then strain in into your cup!

I like mine sweet, but that's me.

Weird thing...I only started drinking tea about nine or so months ago. Until then I found it...unappealing. But, I guess our tastes really do change as we age! LOL! (It was only a couple of years ago that I started liking Avocados, also!)

*hugs you*

That sounds like a good idea, getting a few small sample sizes. There's so many out there and the descriptions all sound yummy, but I'm never quite sure if our tastes agree, lol. I'll have to find some mint, too! :)

Sweet tea? I never would have guessed. ;)

Thanks for your input Perky!

*hugs you back*

Teavana is overpriced in my opinion. I've heard great things from Adagio, and a few people from my f'list order from it. I haven't yet so I can't vouch for them. I've also heard the Sherlock blends are to die for. I buy my tea from this little shop called Tea 4-2 so that's not helpful because it's local.

Amen to Teavana being overpriced. The leaves they sell aren't the best quality either, and their mixes aren't anything to write home about. Regarding their tea tins, they're nice and all, but you can get tins way cheaper through other sources. <3

Ahh, I wish I had a local tea shop. That sounds so nice!

Those Adagio tea blends are hard to resist, even by name alone. >__>
