Ahahaha they are delightful BFFs. I adore them so. It is no doubt shallow, but I have realised that I always go from liking a Doctor to loving him when he has a special companion*. But yes. Thankyou very much, I'm glad you enjoyed. :)

*Different to a Special Companion, which for the most part I prefer to believe Did Not Happen (Romana aside) and if it did I don't want to know about it. *conservative?*

I was just writing about Ace for the 30 days of Who meme (which I will someday actually post) and therefore have an alarmingly apt response to this comment just sitting around in wait:

There has never, ever been a companion so perfectly suited to her Doctor. Ace couldn't travel with anyone but Seven, Seven's not the same traveling with anyone but Ace. I want to call them 'platonic life partners,' for the simple reason that I don't think there was ever anything even a little bit sexual there, but that's such a cold, ungainly term for such a beautiful idea: that Seven and Ace are two halves of a whole. Of course, she and her Issues and her Nitro Nine and her cockiness and the way she cares are gorgeous things all by themselves, but ultimately we love her because Seven loves her, and we love Seven because she loves him, and that's really all there is to be said about it

Oh man the 30 Days of Who meme? I am ... doesn't that have a lot of 'pick your favourites'? Yeah, automatically I am out. But! Timing!

we love her because Seven loves her, and we love Seven because she loves him, and that's really all there is to be said about it. Thiiiiiis is just beautiful and perfect and right. So right. And yes - it's so much easier to love characters when other characters love them (and when that love is clearly supported by the text). Evelyn and Six are another pair like this for me, and of course Jamie and Two. Though what I find interesting about Two and Jamie is that they are wonderful BFFs who I adore, and you think it's perfect, and then you get Zoe involved and suddenly realise that things are better with three. But it's not that something was missing when she wasn't there, it was just that when she turned up you realised you'd been needing her and not knowing it.

Yeah, tbh I don't particularly ship Romana/Four it's just that ... if any Doctor/Companion ship was close to canon, I'd say that was it. I

Eight is totally competent. And he is not afraid to feign incompetence to prove it. I feel like a lot of the Doctors do this, but because Eight has a very small sample space (and is pretty) he gets misunderstood. Poor Eight.

And he is not afraid to feign incompetence to prove it. I actually think this is very true? I like it as a statement anyway. And he gets super misunderstood, which I find frustrating. The gun thing - I KNOW I ALWAYS MENTION THE GUN THING and we are supposed to as the audience be looking at it and laughing because poor silly pacifict Doctor has forgotten how humans work but actually it is brilliant and he knows it even though he is behaving in a way that other people don't think will work. His solutions are mad, but they are brilliant mad and they are going to work and they are not what you would have thought of and that's why he can be manic but also badass. Or. Something. ...Essentially even though he doesn't have the wide base that Six did I still think his audio characterisation, like Six's, is still rooted in his onscreen appearance. Although yes, poor Eight. He

Man, I do miss having a nemesis I can enjoy arguing with. A good nemesis is almost as hard to find as a good friend. Someone you don't hate, but with whom you can give as good as you get. It's even harder in cyberspace where it's so easy to mistake "I disagree" with "TEH RAGE!"

But eff that, Ace! And a very cute moment with Seven. I think he looks younger because he's got no hat. He always looks younger without his hat.
