FYI there is not going to be a big surge of hot hot Democrat support due to the Bush administration's handling of Katrina. This is a very common theme among people that I read, but I'm willing to bet that nobody learns anything or takes any major political action as a result of the disaster. I predict continued Republican control of the government

yeah, that's fucking stupid. the democrats are just as much to blame (particularly at the local and state levels) for the debacle, and will be just as much to blame for blowing loads of money in the ultimately doomed attempt to prevent it from recurring.

bush has played his pr hand poorly, but frankly that'll be forgotten about by the next presidential election and he can't run again anyway.

Katrina's going to make the economy even worse in the long run, and that's the only thing that's going to change people's minds. It's not like I think the right thing will happen for the right reason.
