I'm off to the grocery store to buy rice and white wine. I'm making risotto tonight (rainy days always make me think of risotto), and then I have a special dessert planned for Peter in honour of his promotion. Let's hope it works!

Peter was very happy about that dinner, if a bit suspicious of the reasons behind it. The chowder especially went down a storm! Then after dinner we sat down with a drink and just talked for a bit. I can't tell you how good it felt to just talk with Peter. It's been so long since we really communicated.

Peter should be home in about 20 minutes. The roast is in the oven, the chowder and asparagus on the stove, and dessert in the cake tin. I don't know why I'm so nervous. It's not like our whole marriage is riding on this dinner.

I'm fairly certain, anyway.

I'm making corn chowder for tonight. It's just simmering right now. Gosh, I'd forgotten how much butter is in that recipe! After the chowder's done I'm going to cook a roast beef and some asparagus. All of Peter's favorites! I can't wait to see the look on his face when he gets home from work.

I yelled at Peter this morning. He'd left the milk out on the counter again. He said he's very disapointed in me, and then we're going to have a serious chat when he gets home from work. I hate 'serious chats'. But I suppose I deserve it, this time.

Every single day I scrub my kitchen from top to bottom, put every food item in its proper place in the shelf or fridge, and make sure every single dish is washed and put away. Peter was a no-go on the new hairstyle. Back to putting it up, it is!

Also on my beauty regime, I did my nails this morning. I also discovered a great tip for creating neat looking nails. After the polish dries, I use a cotton bud dipped in nail polish remover to get rid f any stray bit of polish on the sides of the nail.
