Noah's speech ecac1 September 8 2010, 02:32:13 UTC
So cool! Love Noah's speech. It's similar to the oneI give to people who come up with the religious arguments--learned it from the best "president" ever.

I'm anxious to get onto part two, but before that, let me just say Jenny Slater irked me beyond all comprehension. I wanted to take her religious bigot windpipe and use it as a jump-rope.

I haven't read part 2 yet, but I'm legit crying over my phone screen right now because I grew up in a place that, even if it's not called Lima, OH, it might as well be because small-town Kentucky is basically the same thing. And I endured 13 years of Catholic school in a small town as a closeted lesbian, and there was no particular person who was Jenny Slater or David Karofsky, but after I started coming out, my *best friend* told me she was praying for me because she legitimately believed that gay people were going to hell, and I was never so collected as Noah, or even Kurt, when someone said things like that. And you're right, at least the Karofskys and Azimios of the world have the courtesy not to dress their hatred up as anything other than what it is.
But thank you for writing such an awesome scene. I wish I could have had that scene in high school.

Thank you for commenting and I am touched, honored, and relieved that this story rang true and that it meant so much for you.

Sending you good vibes and much love across the internets.

I still remember my shock and anger when a guy at my college once compared homosexuality to pedophilia and beastiality. My friend Adam--sweet, kind, wonderful, a student chaplain, music major who dreamed of teaching high school because he wanted to share his love of music/performing with kids, adorably head over heels in love with his fiancee Mike--Adam...he looked like someone had punched him in the stomach, kicked him when he went down, and then spit on him for good measure.

So, that's where this story came from.

Noah's reaction is everything I wish I'd been able to say.

(What I ended up actually saying being 'Jesus fuck you nutjob, why are you so scared of gays, did a drag queen jump up and yell boo at your mom when she was pregnant with you?' Which wasn't my most mature moment to be sure.)

You've just articulated every frustration I've ever come up against while defending the right to my sexuality or anyone elses. I had a sense memory rush of anger that Kurt must have experienced in that hallway after the initial confrontation. You described that discombobulated, scatterbrain fury perfectly.

This was intense! Loved the fierceness with which the entire Glee club rallied to support Puck and Kurt yet gave them enough breadth to actually stand up for themselves. I love Puck's line of attack simply because it gets on the same level as Jenny's insane logic. I love Kurt's line of attack because it was so filled with emotion that finally managed to get through to Jenny. That last part on in the corridor was so touching and absolutely wonderful. Puck and Kurt make such a brilliant couple.
