Charities: who do you give to?

spacefem posted recently about the charities that she supports, which got me thinking about the charities we are involved in, and thought we really should do a better job at giving back.

These are in the order that we currently donate. My question is, is there a charity that you support or believe needs my support? Please throw a name out there for me to

When I can, I try to give to The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (www.umdf.org). A friend of mine has had problems with mitochondrial disease so I support them when I can thanks to their letting me know about the cause.

I am required by my job contract to recommend that you give to The Nature Conservancy :-)

I am biased in saying the Y, but that's where most of my charitable money currently goes, largely because of the depth and breadth of the programs that we support locally (our association has a men's residence, cancer survivor programs, academic support, healthy living programs and water safety for city kids and etc etc... not all Ys have all that) and I know that the money is used appropriately.

I can't believe I forgot the Y.

We do contribute to the Y, as Erika attends the Y aftercare and we are so pleased with what they offer.

I give to RAINN pretty frequently, as well as Better Beginnings for Babies.
