I think it depends on what that one thing they did you really wrong on in the past was, and I think it depends on who they are.

They gave me hope back. Then they tried to kill me. It's pretty much old hat by now, but I'd be lying if I said I was over it.

I think if you aren't over it then it's not really possible to be there for them completely. Yeah, you can want to, and yeah, you can try, and you can stick around because they need you to, but you can't ever really let all of yourself be there for them until you get over that, if you ever can.
