You're in a dark hospital full of monsters. What to do? )
Rin was tempted to draw his sword, but he held back. What if one of his friends were in the area and they were suddenly caught in the blast. No, he had to wait long enough to see if there was anyone around. He didn't have to wait long. While the scream didn't sound familiar, the gunshots were - not that he made a habit of distinguishing gunshots, of course.
"Yukio!" He called out the name of his twin brother and ran headfirst into the direction of the scream. Yukio might have needed help! There was no other reason for him to scream like that - or to scream at all.

In Japanese he shouted, <"Who are you, the person who called out?">
Reply
"Okumura Rin, Esquire. What's going on?" If there was anything odd about the other person's Japanese, Rin didn't bring it to attention. He pulled his sword, still in its sheath, closer to his hand. It never hurt to be prepared.

"I don't know. I just woke up here; I have no idea where we are. There are creatures unlike any I've ever seen before. Do you have any clue what this place is?"
Reply
"Well," Rin said as he examined his current position, "I haven't seen any of the creatures yet, but they should be demons. They love dark places like this." And if he was just sure of who this person was, he'd gladly illuminate the area. The eerie halls seemed to be teeming with unseen monsters. He wasn't sure if he could distinguish the speaker's footsteps from the other freakish sounds around him.
"Hey, let me ask this: you were the one with the gun, right? What's your name? If you can fight, we might have to defend ourselves. Don't worry, I'm well armed." He smiled, even if the other couldn't see him just yet.

Lelouch didn't believe in demons but it damn sure seemed a fitting description for the terrifying, deformed beast he had seen earlier.
"Then we should probably get out of here to where it's light, if they love the dark," Lelouch continued. "The shots you heard were mine, yes. I found a pistol," he lied, assuming Rin would wonder where a high school student came across a firearm.
"My name is Lelouch Lamperouge."
Reply
He found it hard to believe that a pistol would just be laying around, and harder still that a person could find it in the dark. He let the issue slide for now.
"Huh. You should make sure it's loaded... Lelouch?" He tried pronouncing Lelouch's name correctly, but it would have to take him a few more tries to get it right. But it still sounded very cool, like something from a sci-fi manga.

"Anyway. Even if nothing makes sense, better to believe in demons and fight than be stubborn and get killed."
Hmm, if he was having trouble with the name...then he might not be an Honorary Britannian after all. Honoraries had to speak fluent English. But he was an Esquire, and no Eleven would be given that rank. Maybe he'd never met anybody with a French name before, or couldn't drop the accent...although he was clearly young, and that was mostly a problem older Elevens had. Not to mention that the guy was still speaking Japanese to him even though he was clearly Britannian. 'Maybe he thinks I'm from the E.U.?' It was for the best. Lelouch didn't want to be regarded as a higher class of citizen because of where he was born.
Whatever, Lelouch thought. The most important thing now is survival. I'll figure out which side he's on later.

He'd ask more about the strangeness of Lelouch's name later, when they were at least in a well lit area. But now he was certain that this guy wasn't an Exorcist. He might be a student from the other side of the Academy, where the regular students dwelled.
"Good! That's all I needed to hear, Lelouch!" ...He was really going to end up giving Lelouch a nickname. Had it been in English, it really wouldn't have made a difference. --And again, came the disconcerting noise that only dark places seemed to possess. It sounded too close for comfort. He gripped the hilt of his sword, ready this time to draw it. "Do you hear that?" Rin stopped in his tracks and looked around him. His eyes were useless here.

"Rin...I found a backlit phone too when I woke up. If I shine light on a demon, does that make it more likely to attack? Or does it not matter? Because we're blind in here."
Reply
"If you shine a light on a demon, it'll be distracted. A backlit phone won't have enough power to bother even the smallest coal tar, but even a little bit would be enough for us." It's a good thing Rin did some extra studying in class. He wasn't sure what the enemy looked like, but it sounded big.
Reply
"Yes. I searched my room when I first woke up, and found them on the night stand actually." After a pause it occurs to him to say, "They may have been left intentionally."
Lelouch turned around, away from Rin, and opened the phone. He held it up so the light would shine, seeing nothing but shadows down the hall. He turned the other way and jumped with a yell.
"Behind you!"
From the opposite direction was crawling some sort of bald humanoid with giant claws and teeth in its face. It was crawling slowly but Lelouch didn't want it getting any closer.
He raised his pistol to the base of the phone, holding it in his other hand, and fired. The shot landed on the monster, but the thing still shambled forward.

Rin faced the creature and taking his sword - still in its sheath - he smashed it across the creature's toothed face. "Damn it..." Blue flames sparked around him and touched the monster, but nothing more. Two things he knew for sure: Lelouch was not an exorcist and it would take more than a dull pseudo-blade to harm this low-ranking demon.
He could ask Lelouch to run - but to what end?
Reply
But right now survival was the important thing. Lelouch aimed again and fired four times, putting three bullets in the thing. One that landed in the face finally caused it to slump to the floor.
Lelouch breathed in and out heavily. "I'm going to run out of bullets very quickly at this rate. Come on, we should get out of here."
"...By the way, where did those flames come from?"
Reply
"I'll walk ahead of you, so just save your bullets for now. You don't know when you'll need them again. And you didn't find another round so we'll have to keep an eye out for extras." Dodging questions wasn't a skill he was particularly good at, but he was never above giving it a try. He put some distance between himself and the creature, stopping only when he stood by Lelouch's side. In the dim light of a back lit phone, Rin wasn't sure how much Lelouch could see of him.
"We can talk about that after we get out of here." Or maybe before. Rin patted Lelouch on the shoulder and started walking on.

"Right. Okay then, you take point, and I'll keep an eye out in case anything sneaks up on us from this side. Let's go."
