How many cats do you have? I don't know what the laws are like where you are, but here you can have a lot of pets before it becomes a legal issue (this sounds more like the property management wants you out and the pets issue is a convenient way to make that happen).
They can only bust you if you're a nuisance, though, i.e. odor, and so they send a "standard notice to cure." I imagine they'll inspect next, and my rescue fosters are re-homed, and my permanent cats on a little "vacation." *fingers crossed*

Gah, I'm so sorry. Just seconding the person who mentioned seeking legal counsel, particularly if your building's company is ruthless about this stuff.
Yes, I have a lawyer. She is well-known and knows THEM too, so I feel like she'll do what needs to be done once I've done what needs to be done. If you follow that.
