school board is run by the government, why would the government encourage radical thinking from the youth to the lead the country in the future?
It's not ridiculous, it's loss of fucking freedom

the school board is actually made up of community members who spend time "running" the affairs of the school. mostly those dealing with the community. the CDE is run by the government, but only in the sense that privatized employees are given a set of criteria and set free to follow. the government has little to do with permission slip type things, it's all by choice of the office of the school, and yes it is ridiculous.

and the government has little to do with loss of freedom, really. mostly private industries who just force losses of autonomy onto you. when you get thrown into extra search lines at an airport, or kept from taking on fluids because of "terrorist threats" that's the outsourced company grasping at straws to increase PERCEIVED safety, because the government sends a memo saying "make it safe". when america finally lapses over to centrism, it won't be our government in charge. it will be corporations, using capitalism as an excuse to control you. because then, you have no political leverage with them at all.
