This was so sweet! Harry with a small prick, Severus not caring about that so much as that they have built a friendship, and it is clear that it is harry's magical power that is a main attraction for him - he is a true Slytherin, after all - and he took full advantage of his opportunity. Arggh! Ron! he's quite the jerk, to make Harry feel so inadequate. It always seemed to me that Ron, though Harry's friend, always was trying to deny or compensate. Even though Harry never threw his fame or fortune in Ron's face, it is sadly believable that Ron would do so to Harry, given the opportunity. One would wish that Severus would use his potions skills to find ways to make Ron pay for his petty, cruel meanness - even if it did bring Harry to Severus' bed! Wonderful, light pleasure reading. Thanks!
Can you tell Ron is not my favorite person? JKR writes him as such a shallow, materialistic, fickle person, and although he always ends up being friends with Harry again, I don't see him as a true friend who truly supports Harry. I think Severus may be plotting even now, trying to calculate just how much he can irritate Ron without Harry calling him to task.
This story seemed to be well received, except for one person who told me that I shouldn't be writing Snarry and that the whole thing read like a schoolgirl fantasy. My fingers were twitching with the need to say unfriendly things, but I held back. I don't agree that it's all about them hating each other, and not all stories deal with them overcoming their animosity. And I won't even go into the overlooked error which generated a huge post in pj's journal! Really, it made me just want to hunker down in my little outpost and skip posting stories to any comms.
I write very little angst! I don't write Ron as a horrible person, but I do see him as petty and insecure. He seems to be getting more so as we progress thru each book, and I have a hard time seeing him as a true friend of Harry's. A friend, yes, but more of a fair weather friend.
Wow! Lovely! Harry was so insecure here, glad that Severus cured him a wee bit but it needed more examinations just to make sure that it is working perfectly. More! More! Thank you! Hmm... Been reading some of you fics in hpfandom/ff.net... well, not sure which one now since I read in both. And decided to visit your lj. Glad I did, or I won't have notice this cute story.
